About Shetland Footprints Guided Tours

Expert guiding with a personal touch

Hello!

My name is Birgit and Shetland has been my home since 1998. Originally from Germany, I first came as a tourist, then moved here permanently to work as a freelance translator. Having fallen in love with the wide open spaces (no, I do not miss trees!), the ever-changing views of sea and sky and the relaxed lifestyle, I can’t wait to show you around on foot or by car, and hope that, like many visitors to Shetland, you will fall in love too.

You can be confident of being in good hands – I am a qualified Green Badge guide with the Scottish Tourist Guides Association (STGA) and have years of experience of touring and walking in Shetland with guests and friends alike, as well as in-depth knowledge about Shetland. I will make sure you have a professional, safe and relaxed experience. You can find my listing in the STGA directory here. I hold an Outdoor First Aid certificate and have completed the Hill and Moorland Leader training with Mountain Training.

Join me for a guided walk/hike or let me take you on a sightseeing tour by car. I like to keep tours relaxed and flexible – no memorised lectures or unnecessarily rigid itineraries!

Do get in touch with any enquiries or to book – whether you are holidaying in Shetland or paying a short visit during a cruise.

Information on pricing can be found on the Tours page.

Tour in Comfort!

To get you around and to and from the location of any walks, I provide a comfortable Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life with room for up to 6 passengers. It features a large panoramic sunroof to let in lots of light, USB-C charging sockets and power-latching sliding doors. It is fully insured for private hire.
